Just got back from the Orbital concert in downtown DC at the 9:30 club.
All I can say is, wow. If you have a chance to see them in the US during the month of October, *DO IT*.
'nuff said. Wow.

I'll second that! I saw them for the "In Sides" tour and they absolutely rocked!
Speaking of concerts, I just got back from the Bassment Jaxx show in Detroit....

Saw them in Cambridge a couple of months ago - very cool. It was an interesting progression from very recent stuff to some of their older stuff. It was all a bit more up beat than typical Orbital.

Yes.
And when they were just making lots of noise and I was thinking "Come on lads, you could segue this into Chime if you really put your minds to it", and they did... everyone went mad again.
If I had one criticism it's that they didn't play enough of the Brown Album / Diversions era stuff... I reckon I prefer Orbital-the-ambient-act to Orbital-the-dance-act.

I love Orbital's "BIG" sound and the way they get the audience going... Any of you guys that like them should check the downloads at http://www.DustyBrown.com . Ben Miller from this board turned me on to him, and I love his stuff. 32GB Mk. II in a WRX

Yep, this show seemed to be like more fast-paced than the old ambient stuff... but it still was amazing.. the crowd was really into it.
The only complaint I had was it seemed like only 5 minutes after they started playing they stopped, and no that wasn't from any substances that might have been floating around in my system at the time! ;) It actually turned out to be about 1 hour and 45 minutes or so which was still pretty short for my liking :/
but alltogether, (pun intended), it was an EXCELLENT concert.
... especially when they busted out into Satan. mmm, that was good.

I saw them 3 years ago on the Community Service Tour with Crystal Method and Lo-Fi All Stars. Just an incredible bill and an incredible evening. I totally agree with you that Orbital is a must see band. ALso, New Crystal Method should be out soon seeing how I just heard a new song from them on that non digital thingy called . . . a radio I believe.

ALso, New Crystal Method should be out soon
Tweekend (new Crystal Method) has been out since early August. It's pretty good. Of course it doesn't live up to what was expected from such a great group after having such an amazing album and 4+ years to work on a new one. Oh well, still good muzik :)

I was happy with Tweekend, but Vegas.... is Vegas....

It's interesting to see that my fellow empeg users have very similar tastes in music to me... I guess "Techno" and "Tech-Know" sorta go hand in hand?
I too think Tweekend is a great album, but yes, it is hard to beat Vegas. And Orbital... Definitely one of my favorite bands. "Halcyon +on +on" Mmmmm...
Just for kicks, here's a little sample of some other bands on my empeg:
Rabbit In The Moon
Massive Attack
Buena Vista Social Club
Orb (And Orbital too...)
Thievery Corporation
Loop Guru
Air
Lamb
M.I.R.V.
Dead Can Dance
Fluke
Delerium
Nuclear Rabbit

I've already bought 1 CD due to this thread, and after tonight it will be a few more, with the $50 bonus check I got.
No wonder I have gotten $70 in gift certificates from Media Play already on the Replay program...

Initially, I bought Orbital's The Alltogether set. (My first CD from them.)
And last night I grabbed The Crystal Method's newest one, along with the Farscape 7 DVD and the Simpsons season 1.
So far, I like both albums. Thanks to the traffic jam this morning staring at an accident, I got to listen to almost half of the new Crystal Method one.
